Big Night 2016
THANK YOU! We are humbled by the outpouring of generosity and excited to share with you that Big Night raised more than $2 million to support our programs. With over 800 kids still on our waiting list to be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister, Big Night contributions will allow us to make a real difference in these children’s lives. It took a lot of hard work to make Big Night a success, and we could not have done it without the help of our event committee, our once again SOLD OUT crowd of enthusiastic attendees and, of course, our incredibly generous supporters.
The performances were incredible by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and Flo Rida, but our mission was the driving force behind all of our efforts. We heard from Little Brother Mike Gandy who shared with us his inspiring testimonial of the power a mentor can have in a child’s life. His remarks touched the hearts of our 1,000+ guests and will not soon be forgotten. Little Brother Mike has overcome some tremendous hurdles in his life, and it was because of his Big Brother Austin that he was able to achieve so much in life. Listen to Mike’s story, then check out more stories from our matches at http://blog.bbbsmb.org/BeingBIG.
Josh and Anita Bekenstein joined the list of inspirational leaders and philanthropists, to receive the 7th annual James J. Pallotta Award. The impact of Josh and Anita’s work to make Boston a better place for youth was evident to all as we watched the heartfelt surprise recognition video outlining their passion and drive to help the community. We encourage you to watch it again (below) or share with friends that couldn’t make it. Help us to continue to spread the positive impacts of mentoring. We congratulate Tim, Anita and Josh again on this well-deserved honor and thank all that contributed in their name.
Since our first Big Night in 1998, we have raised more than $30 million, helping foster more than 10,000 one-on-one friendships between young people and adult mentors in Massachusetts. As a nearly 100% donor supported agency, it is only with your help that we can carry out our mission and continue to change the lives of children, making healthier families, better schools and stronger communities for all.
Thank you again for believing in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay.
